HUDSON’s WIFE
By Susan Jackson
Directed by Louis Parnell
HUDSON’S WIFE is based on the book, “MY LIFE WITH ROCK HUDSON” written by Phyllis Gates, Rock Hudson’s wife of three years. Jackson has added her own twist to the drama surrounding Rock Hudson and his short lived marriage. In this play, scenes between the Hollywood legend and his wife are interspersed with conversations between his now ex-wife and an over-eager writer, Bob Thomas, right after the death of Rock Hudson. How much did Hollywood know of this arrangement and was Phyllis a part of the conspiracy, or simply a pawn to keep Rock’s sexuality a secret? Ambition reigns in this drama about betrayal, lust, love and loss.
