2019 Innovators- Queer Cat Productions
For over a hundred years, San Francisco has been known as a center of artistic creativity and innovation. More recently, the City has also become known as the center for technological innovation and progress. 3Girls Theatre’s Innovators Series is an exciting program that is creating opportunities to connect the innovators of the art communities with the innovators of the tech communities.
Queer Cat Productions was founded by Nicole Jost and Carson Ash Beker at Old Devil Moon bar over bourbon & tears. Dedicated to bringing playful, perspective-queering, boundary-pushing theater experiences to the Bay Area and beyond, Queer Cat Productions also stands for collaborations, artists getting paid, and cats, especially Molly and Smaug. https://www.queercatproductions.com/
Queer Cat Productions’ The Gay Divorce Play is an interactive living room theater ritual of a queer marriage dissolution party. TJ and Luz invite you, their friends, to celebrate their divorce. Audience members are called upon to bear witness, take sides, and misbehave. Along the way, we will eat, drink, and consider: What is a queer marriage? When do relationships become monstrous? Why is it always hummus and quinoa at these things? What does it mean when two people who once loved one another separate? When a play ends, are we a community or just strangers in a room?”
