WHAT
The 3GT Innovators Series presents experimental works-in-progress by women theatre-makers to an audience that is notoriously difficult to reach: young Bay Area “techies” and professionals. By connecting artists who are reimagining what theatre is and can be with their peers across industries throughout the City, 3GT hopes to spark new kinds of artistic collaboration and bring in new audiences for edgy work by women theatre-makers.
WHY
Our wild and eccentric City on the Bay has always been a beacon for artist, writers, creative risk takers, dreamers of all kinds. 3GT supports women playwrights who are experimenting with the form, content, and utility of theatre, and we mean to keep it that way! In 2017, we created our 3GT Innovators Series to create space and provide the resources necessary for experimenting with the theatrical medium. Postdramatic, immersive, devised, nonlinear, mixed media. . . We want to put it on stage, and in front of new audiences, where it belongs!
WHO
You! We invite women-identified and gender nonconforming theatre-makers to apply year-round to 3GT Innovators’ development program. 3GT provides artistic and financial support to help creators move from concept to production with work that challenges formal convention and pushes thematic boundaries. Artists of color are particularly encouraged to apply and will be given priority consideration. To apply, please complete the online application form by clicking here. For questions and inquiries, email info@3girlstheatre.org.
“I’m so gratified by 3GirlsTheatre’s support of my work, which has been instrumental to the artistic development of “Lost Chinatowns,” and impressed by their commitment to women’s voices and to the ethics of access that underpins their New Works Festival.”
