FEBRUARY 2015 LEZ WRITES! VALENTINE’S DAY SHOW.
3Girls Theatre Company, the San Francisco company of women playwrights that “puts women’s work on the stage, where it belongs!” is seeking submissions from Bay Area writer/performers for our Lez Writes! project.
WHAT IS LEZ WRITES!: Lez Writes! is a project of 3Girls Theatre Company that produces readings and performances of short works by lesbian playwrights in the Bay Area. 3GT Resident Playwright Margery Kreitman curates the project.
WHO SHOULD SUBMIT: Calling for works by lez, bi, trans playwrights and writers for a fun and funny VALENTINE’S DAY show. Seeking submissions from women of ALL AGES, races and ethnicities. Women of color encouraged to apply! We love it if you are a writer who is comfortable performing your own work, and if that is not the case, send it anyway and we will find someone to perform it!
TOPICS: For Valentines Day Show: Seeking pieces depicting your lez, bi, trans, (or all 3!) life experiences, that focus on one or more of the following topics: romance, dating, love, sex, polyamory, monogamy, intimacy, marriage, break-up, divorce, family. We request short, 5-8 minute humorous pieces. They can be personal essay, flash memoir, monologue, slam poetry, 2-4 character short play, or creative non-fiction.
WHEN/WHERE: We will be doing a reading /performance on February 8th, 3 pm at Take Five Cafe in Berkeley. It is a great neighborhood cafe and venue with lots of street parking. (Please make sure you are available on the day of the reading to attend a run-though in addition to the performance).
HOW TO SUBMIT: Submission by email only. Please send submissions to: lwsubmissions@3girlstheatre.org with the subject “Lez Writes! Project” in subject line. Scripts should be attached to your email in MS Word or PDF. Please include your name and all contact information on the cover page only. Please number the pages.
