A note from the Producing Artistic Director
I hope you were able to join us for this year’s extraordinary 3GT New Works Festival: Risky Women, Having Fun and Wreaking Havoc. From beginning to end, everything was at its best: the artistic quality of the programming, the professionalism of the staff, the enthusiasm of the audiences, the camaraderie of the Company. I’m so honored to be a part of this gang of unique, gutsy artists.
It’s impossible to mention all of the high points, but here are a few that stick in my mind:
-
The thrill of seeing packed houses throughout the week, and meeting so many brand new audience members – hooray for FREE!
-
Completely sold-out nights — with waitlists! — for ReproRights and LezWrites!
-
Getting a call out of the blue from a friend to tell me that he just saw the Festival featured in the Chronicle and SF Gate
-
NARAL representative Nonie Greene’s moving call to action at ReproRights, and the audience’s powerful response to it
-
The spirited discussion between our Resident Playwrights and audience members about how to get new plays by women into the pipeline during our Saturday Talk Back
-
Chardonnay’s “no baby, no problem” rap on Thursday night
