Hedy Herrera is a Chilean artist and teacher who’s work portrays her passion to provoke social change through her art. She creates work based on her own experiences lived as a political exiled, now an immigrant living in California, and a woman who has suffered the injustices of the laws towards women on herself and her teenaged daughter. She expresses her desire to transform the inequalities through her paintings and mixed media artwork. Hedy earned a BFA in Printmaking from San Jose State University and recently a Master’s degree from John F Kennedy University in Transformative Arts. She lives and works in San Jose but considers all the Americas to be her home as friends and family are spread in different places of North, Central, and South America.
