3GT Playwright since 2018 (Brady Fellow)
Current 3GT Project: Staged reading of The Pennsylvanians, Salon Series February 2020
Jennifer Lynne Roberts is a Bay Area writer and producer and holds an MFA from California College of Arts. She is Co-founder/Producer of Ex Nihilo Theatre and ReproRights!
She’s written for 3GT, B8, Quantum Dragon Productions, Virago Theatre, SF Olympians, Shotz!, Playground SF, Wily West Productions, All Terrain Theatre, Playwrights’ Center of San Francisco, and Pacific Play Company. Her play “The Killing Jar,” was a finalist for Dayton FutureFest and is currently being work shopped with Spare Stage in San Francisco. “Accommodations” was first written and developed through The Forge at Quantum Dragon Theatre and further developed as part of 3GT’s Salon Reading Series. She’s currently developing “The Pennsylvanian” for the 2019-20 reading series, to be presented in February.
Jennifer’s connection with 3Girls Theatre first began in 2015 with collaboration between ReproRights! and the 3GT New Works Festival. Since then, 3GT and ReproRights! have been presenting evenings of short plays, monologues, and performance pieces centering on women’s reproductive rights and bodily autonomy to raise awareness for NARAL Pro-Choice California.
Jennifer was named a Brady Fellow in 2018 and had the honor of being Head Writer for 3GT Investigates: Birth Rights, part of 3GT’s investigative theatre program. Of the experience, Jennifer said, “Working collaboratively on this incredibly important project has been one of the most powerful learning experiences of my career. I’m grateful to have had the opportunity to lead, to learn, and to grow.”
Of all of the projects Jennifer has done, she is most proud of her work partnering up ReproRights! and 3GT in response to the war on bodily autonomy against women, transgender and gender queer, non-binary, and gender non-conforming communities, which went on to a full production with B8 Theatre in Concord last fall.
