Call for Submissions: Women & The Body Politic

3GT announces three open submission opportunities for women playwrights to participate in the 2016 New Works Festival.

Opportunity #1: Women & The Body Politic!

This year’s Festival theme night on Wednesday, August 24, 2016 at 7:30 pm will be a very special evening of interviews, short plays and musical entertainments. Confronting issues around body image — whether we mean our individual bodies, or our image of women as a voting body– is key to our ability to make the political changes we need to ensure that women’s voices are heard at the highest levels. The evening will be curated by 3GT’s co-founders, Suze Allen, Lee Brady and AJ Baker.

We invite submissions of 5-10 minute plays by SF Bay Area women on our theme: Women & the Body Politic in 2016. Comedies, tragedies and fantasies pertaining to women’s bodies and choices. A few examples of prompts are: “We can do it!,” “Yes, means yes,”“ Hands off my Body,” Gender Politics, The Politics of Food and Body Image, How bad can it get with another man in office?

We welcome ALL women’s perspectives and encourage women of all ages, colors and sexual orientation to submit.
